7:45PM Sunday

Light snow continues to fall across the area.
Radar reveals that we are currently on the back edge of the storm, and snow should be winding down relatively soon.

There is however, additional snow falling over western NY.
Models indicate that this band should weaken before reaching the Hudson Valley. However, it would not be a surprise if this band resulted continued light snow between 1am and 5am. If this were to happen at that timing, a cancellation would be entirely possible. However, given the slushy nature of the snow on most roads, will continue to favor a delay.

I work tonight, so this will be the final update.

7:45am Saturday

About an inch of snow fell between 8pm and 3am last night.
Our next storm is on deck for tomorrow.

Snow should begin early Sunday morning …likely between 7am and 9am… and taper off Sunday night. Still likely looking at 4 to 8 inches of snow and sleet. The trend over the past 24 hours has been for a cooler storm, so it appears that the chances for pure rain mixing in are diminishing, but it's still something to monitor as this would limit storm totals. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the potential of 7+ inches of snow. You can see the complete advisory »Here«.

Below, I've put together a brief info graphic explaining the differences between the major winter weather headlines issued by the National Weather Service.

12PM Friday

It is well established in the archives that a large snow storm can result in a double snowday. However, all of the storms that have done so have always ended very late in the day. It is unprecedented over the past 13 years that a storm ending at 2pm cancels classes the next day! Nevertheless, that is what has happened.
Enjoy the snow day!

Tonight's Storm
A weak storm system will approach from the north tonight. This should spread light snow over the region tonight into tomorrow. Snow start time: 8PM tonight.
Snow end time: by 8am Saturday.
Total accumulations: around 2 inches.

Sunday's Storm

A second storm is likely to impact the region on Sunday.
Depending on the exact storm track this storm may bring some rain and snow. The trend over the past 24 hours has been for a snowier scenario with less rain, and there is the possibility for moderate amounts of snow.
Start time: between 5am and 9am Sunday.
End time: 7pm Sunday to 12am Monday.
Total Accumulations: 3 to 7 inches.
