10:00PM Update

Latest storm timetable:
Light snow developing around 3AM or 4AM.
About an inch of snow through 7AM.
Snow changing to mixed precipitation after 7AM.
Mixed precipitation changing to rain after 10AM.
Chance of rain through 4PM.

As of 10PM temperatures in Kingston are right around 29 degrees and have been slowly rising. This is a good five degrees warmer than all sources/forecasts suggested for this evening. Although temperatures should cool off a few degrees after precipitation begins, being five degrees warmer than anticipated is not very reassuring of the rest of the forecast… especially when we're only a few degrees away from the freezing mark.

That being said… . . the big picture still implies impacts to the morning commute. Looking for snow to accumulate on untreated roadways through 8AM, then potentially a period of mixed precipitation after that. Due mainly to the timing and the threat of frozen precipitation continuing after 8AM, have chosen to slightly favor a cancellation on this last update. The 60% means that a cancellation is likely but not definite. The 40% means that a delay is possible. No significant weather is anticipated for the rest of the week.

11:00AM Sunday

Another storm system will impact the region tomorrow.
Currently expecting the following:

Light snow developing after 2AM.
Up to half inch coating of snow by 4AM.
Up to an inch of snow by 7AM.
Changeover to light rain between 8AM and 10AM.
Periods of sleet possible during the transition phase.
Rain tapering off by 4PM.

Temperatures should dip into the mid20s prior to the storm.
From 4AM through 7AM temperatures should be in the mid20s. After 7AM, temperatures should quickly rise into the lower 30s by 11AM. This should allow for slick conditions with some road improvement possible during the mid morning.

I will try to have an update by 10PM,
but may not be able to tonight.
