9:30PM Monday

Temperatures are in the mid 30s. Radar shows some showers preparing to move in over the next few hours. Tonight… Expecting mainly rain showers with some snow or sleet possibly mixed in at times. Temperatures should hold steady, before rising before day break. Even if we do see some light frozen precipitation, not expecting any notable road accumulations since temperatures were in the upper 30s this afternoon and are still several degrees above freezing. To compare tonight's set up with the ice-related cancellation on January 9th… Temperatures on January 8th were in the mid to upper 20s during the afternoon… . They didn't rise above freezing until after 6am. Tonight we are well on the other side of the freezing mark. For tomorrow… Expect clouds with periodic rain showers. Still expecting a steady rain for Wednesday with temps maxing out around 50.

5:00PM Sunday

Today marks the first official calendar day of Winter 2014-2015! We have an active but wet week shaping up.

The week will start off dry on Monday. Monday night, however, a weak storm system off the coast will begin to introduce a threat of light precipitation into Tuesday. As of right now, temperatures Monday night look to bottom out right around the freezing mark, so while we may see some light wintery precipitation, accumulations do not look to be an issue right now. Periodic rain showers look to be the main "threat" for Tuesday.

By Wednesday, a much stronger low pressure system will move northward from the Gulf of Mexico. This storm will bring with it a significant amount of precipitation. Locally, we should see steady rain for most of Wednesday with notably warmer temperatures, and possibly breezy conditions. Storm clears out late Wednesday night. Generally cloudy but dry conditions should be the rule of thumb for the remainder of the week as several weaker storm systems pass by the area.

If needed, there will be an update Monday night.
