Another round of winter?

6:15 P.M. Monday December 9, 2013

School Forecast for:
Tuesday December 10, 2013

Two Hour Delay Cancellation Early Dismissal
0% 0% 30%

There will be three main points for this weeks weather:

1) A storm system will trek offshore the Mid-Atlantic states Tuesday, bringing the threat of some light snow throughout the day. Notable accumulations look
to stay to our south and east, but we could still see up to an inch or so of accumulation throughout the day.

I have issued a 30% chance of an early dismissal for tomorrow. Most, of tomorrow's accumulations look to be between 8AM and 2PM, with up to half an inch possible through 11AM. Temperatures will barely make it into the 30's tomorrow, so any snow that does fall will likely stick to most surfaces. The current forecast looks comparable to the January 28, 2013 Early Dismissal. I will observe the storm progression tonight, and have a final update on the situation by 6:30AM tomorrow.

2) Very cold Arctic air will filter in for Thursday.
For historical reference: the National Weather Service forecast low temperature of 7 degrees for Poughkeepsie on Thursday night would be the coldest December temperature recording since December 30, 2010. The last time we had a comparable temperature within the first two weeks of the month was back in 2005.

3) A storm system may affect us with accumulating snow this weekend. Too early for specific details, but just something to keep in mind as we go through the week.
