10:00PM Update

Temperatures are running a couple of degrees below forecast, and as a result rain has started off as snow. Expect snow to continue through about 2AM, at which time rain should begin to mix in. Given current snow rates, there is the potential for an inch of snow. The rest of the forecast remains unchanged.

5:30PM Update

.A potent system over the eastern US is currently producing some of the mos severe weather of the season over the southeastern states. In the Hudson Valley, this system will produce rain tonight into Saturday, possibly mixing with some wintry precipitation.

Tonight
Rain.
Rain may mix with snow or sleet at times.
Little or no snow accumulation expected.
Temperatures will hold steady around 35 degrees.

Saturday
Rain.
Mainly in the morning.
Expect significant snow melt.
High of 52. Overnight low of 30.

Sunday
Partly cloudy.
High of 42. Low of 19.

Monday
Cooler. Sunny.
High of 38. Low of 15.

The forecast for the next week, does not indicate any potential snowstorms, and after a brief shot of cooler air coming out of this weekend, temperatures are expected to climb a little bit each day next week. Over the last seven years, four winters have ended during the first week of March, one has ended during the second week of March, and two have ended during the third week of March. Given the current 7-day outlook, and the mild nature of this winter, I would say that there is a 70% chance that the last appreciable snow of the season has already fallen.
