4:00PM Update:

There is a chance for a passing show shower or flurry this evening as a system passes to our south. If there are any accumulations, they will be no more than a dusting or so. There is also a hint of snow now in the forecast for Friday night and Saturday morning as an arctic front passes through. We'll have to see how that plays out.

If needed, I will have an additional update by 10PM.

Next full Update:
Friday afternoon.

Tuesday's Update:
It has been over ten days since we have had any rain, and eighteen days since we have had any snow. This dry trend looks to continue for at least the next several days, but cooler weather is in store.

Today and Wednesday
Look for increasing clouds.
High temperatures Wednesday will only be around 35.

Wednesday Night
A system will pass well to our south.
Some flurries or light snow showers possible.
No accumulation is anticipated. Low 23.

Thursday and Friday
Sunny to partly cloudy skies.
Highs will make it into the mid 40s.

The weekend
It'll be mostly sunny and dry.
A cold front will slide through the region Friday night.
Temperatures will only make it up to around 30 both Saturday and Sunday.
We may not make it above freezing at all this weekend.
Lows in the mid-teens.

The colder weather may linger into the beginning of next week.

Snow In Africa
In my last post, I mentioned the current cold wave in Europe. Rome received only its second snowfall in the past 15 years, and it's heaviest snowfall in 26 years. Well, the cold weather has now spilled into northern Africa. Yesterday, snow fell in Libya for the first time since 2005. What is even more remarkable is that the 2 to 3 inches they received is their heaviest snow since at least 1956… which coincidentally also fell on February 6. Another way to look at it: Kingston, NY has only had three more inches of snow than Tripoli, Libya so far in 2012.

Next Update:
Friday Afternoon.
I'll have a brief update tomorrow evening
regarding any snow possibilities for Wednesday night.
