Welcome to Kingston Snows!!

School Forecast For:
Monday January 23, 2012
Two-Hour Delay Cancellation Early Dismissal
40% 10% 0%

A system will approach from the west. Warm air in the atmosphere, coupled with sub-freezing air at the surface, will result in an extended period of freezing drizzle.

Expect precipitation to begin shortly after midnight, and continue through the morning. Temperatures will rise from the mid 20's to the lower 30's by 9AM. A light glaze of ice is possible.

Freezing drizzle will transition to light rain by 9AM or 10AM. Rain will persist throughout the day. High around 44.
Tuesday through Friday
Partly Cloudy, highs in the lower to mid 40's.
Becoming mostly cloudy Thursday.
A chance of snow showers Thursday night into Friday morning.

Icy precipitation of this quantity always presents a forecasting challenge. While only light frozen precipitation is forecast, temperatures will only be in the mid 20's through 7AM, thus, at least patchy slick conditions are likely through the morning. It doesn't take much ice to cause issues. For now, will post a 40% chance of a delay and will reassess the forecast by 10PM

A freezing rain advisory is in effect from midnight tonight until noon tomorrow. Slippery conditions on untreated surfaces will cause potentially hazardous travel.

Next Update:
10PM Tonight.
