A coastal storm will track from North Carolina to
Cape Cod Sunday into Monday. This storm will spread
snow over the region during this time frame. Snow
should begin to fall Sunday morning and taper off late
on Monday with the bulk of the snow falling between
sunrise and noon on Monday. Right now it appears
that the heaviest snow will fall along and just inland of
the Atlantic coast with these areas receiving up to 8
inches. We will likely pick up 3 to 5 inches- which
breaks down. This system has a very steep snow
gradient, meaning that if the storm tracks just a little
further to the east we may only see an inch or so, if it
tracks to our the west, however, we could be looking at
a substantial snowfall. Although there is still some
uncertainty with this storm I currently do not expect
there to be school on Monday March 2, however, since
this will be my last update before the storm I went with
a (conservative) 50% chance of no school at the top of
the page. A winter storm advisory will likely be issued
later tonight or Sunday morning.
