10:00PM Update

Best timeframe for snow overnight looks to be between 4AM and 7AM, with a bumper time of an hour or two on either side. During this time expecting half an inch to two inches… Tonight's system is very dry and it is possible that some of the snow evaporates before reaching the ground, reducing totals. Considered reducing the probabilities slightly, but decided to keep them as are, mainly due to timing. A delay is likely, but not definite. A late morning "upgrade" to a cancellation is possible.

6:00PM Wednesday

A storm passing to our north will send a band of snow through the region tonight. This band of snow looks to pass through Ulster County sometime between midnight and 8AM. As far as accumulations… generally under two inches of snow is expected.

Chose to slightly favor a delay because these types of snow bands don't tend to linger around too long, and it could be over as early as 5AM. However, temperatures will be in the Lower 20s, so this will likely be one of those powdery snows that cakes on roadways… So it wouldn't be a surprise to see districts start off with a delay and upgrade to a cancellation like we've seen so many times over the past two years with these critically-timed morning snowfalls.
