..IT WILL BE A PERILOUS MORNING DRIVE ACROSS EASTERN NEW YORK AND
ADJACENT WESTERN NEW ENGLAND…

THE SNOW HAS DIMINISHED IN INTENSITY ACROSS THE REGION…BUT LIGHT
TO MODERATE SNOW CONTINUES TO FALL WITH SNOWFALL RATES UP TO AN
INCH PER HOUR. PRELIMINARY REPORTS INDICATED THAT ANYWHERE 10 TO
20 INCHES OF SNOW HAS FALLEN ACROSS MOST OF THE REGION…WITH
LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS IN EXCESS OF TWO FEET.

AN ADDITIONAL ONE TO FOUR INCHES OF SNOW WILL LIKELY ACCUMULATE
BEFORE THE SNOW COMPLETELY TAPERS OFF.

WHILE THE SNOWFALL WILL DECREASE THROUGH THE MORNING HOURS…THE
WIND WILL INCREASE. LOOK FOR A NORTHWEST WIND TO BE 10 TO 20
MPH…WITH GUSTS TO 30 MPH…ESPECIALLY ACROSS THE HIGHER TERRAIN.
THIS WIND WILL BLOW AND DRIFT THE FRESHLY FALLEN SNOW AND CONTINUE
TO PRODUCE LOCALIZED WHITEOUTS.

ROADS WILL CONTINUE TO BE SNOW COVERED AND TREACHEROUS. TRAVEL IS
DISCOURAGED THROUGH THE MORNING HOURS.
