COUNTY EXECUTIVE MIKE HEIN ESTABLISHES ULSTER COUNTY INFORMATION PHONE NUMBER TO BE USED DURING STORMS AND OTHER EMERGENCIES

Ulster County residents can call 888-455-1616 during emergencies for important recorded information and updates, such as road closures and shelter locations.

Kingston, NY – “Currently, weather forecasts are trending more and more toward an ice event for the eastern part of Ulster County while high snowfall is expected in the western areas. Rain, sleet, freezing rain and snow will all likely hit some portion of our County,” said Arthur Snyder, Director of Ulster County’s Emergency Management/Emergency Communications Department.

In order to help ensure County residents’ safety, County Executive Hein established a new Ulster County Information Phone Number with a recording which is periodically updated with information during a storm or other emergency. County Executive Hein stated, “Please check the County’s website at www.UlsterCountyNY.gov, or if you lose power, call 888-455-1616 for a recorded message in order to find out about road closures, shelter information and other necessities.”

As always, if roads are icy, it is necessary to proceed with caution. In addition, treat any down wire as potentially energized and utilize auxiliary generators in a safe manner: operate them outdoors to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning. Only call 9-1-1 when there is a true emergency.
