BY TUESDAY EVENING…THE CENTER OF THE LOW WILL BE EAST OF CAPE
COD…AND SOUTH OF NOVA SCOTIA…AND IT WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE
NORTHEAST AWAY FROM OUR FORECAST AREA. THE GFS…ECMWF…AND
NCEP ALL SHOW A RATHER LARGE HIGH PRESSURE AREA EXTENDING FROM
HUDSON BAY SOUTH TO TEXAS…WITH 850 HPA TEMPERATURES MINUS 20
TO 24 JUST NORTH OF THE GREAT LAKES. THUS THE ICEBOX DOOR WILL
AGAIN BE OPENED…WITH TEMPERATURES TAKING THE PLUNGE BELOW
ZERO ACROSS THE ADIRONDACKS…AND INTO THE LOW TEENS IN THE
HUDSON VALLEY FOR EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING. AS TYPICAL WITH
COLD AIR ADVECTION…THERE WILL BE LOTS OF CLOUDS WEDNESDAY
AND HIGHS WILL ONLY BE IN THE MID TEENS NORTH TO THE LOW 20S
SOUTH. WE HAVE CHANCE POPS FOR THE WHOLE AREA DUE TO THE
INCONSISTENCY AND DIFFERENCES IN THE MODELS. THE ECMWF IS
FAIRLY DRY…WHILE THE GFS DEVELOPS A SECOND LOW OFF THE
NEW JERSEY COAST AND MOVES THAT NORTHEAST CLIPPING CAPE COD
WEDNESDAY MORNING…WITH A WIDE BAND OF PRECIP AROUND THE
NORTH AND WEST SIDES WHICH WOULD PERSIST INTO WEDNESDAY
EVENING. IT WOULD BRING A SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL TO MUCH OF
THE AREA TUESDAY NOON THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT.
